Maybe soon or very soon drunk drivers will not be able to wreck havoc on the roads. A new technology, The Driver Alcohol Detection Systems for Safety, promises to prevent cars from starting when it detects a higher amount of alcohol level than usual from the drivers. This technology is being developed by researchers of QinetiQ North America lab in Massachusetts. As now, nobody is talking of mandating this technology in future vehicles, but they rather think of it as a future option for car makers to include at their conveniences.
In my opinion, this technology better be accurate, or else it’s would be downright irritating. Imagine if it’s inaccurate and stopping you from driving to an important meeting which could make you lose either a potential client or a job. On the other hand, if it’s accurate enough, I think this technology is a godsend. This technology can save bystanders from being killed by drunk drivers. Also, car insurances may become cheaper when cars equip with this technology.
